Byron + Madison || Backyard wedding

Finding words to describe this wedding is difficult. All I can really say is that this wedding blew my socks off. Yeah, you heard me. Madison + Byron threw the best party around that day, and were surrounded by the most loving and genuine people! Literally when I walked in, the vibe was SO relaxed. That’s something I love showing up to, people just having a good time and rolling with the wedding day. Things don’t go perfectly always, but having a group of people who remind you what the days actually about, is THE BEST thing.

Also this freaking girl, guys. Her attention to detail blew me away! Each bottle of wine they had at the wedding was from a different place they had been across the United States. how amazing is that? Also can more brides to braids?! How amazing does that look with the florals in her hair. Here’s to a lifetime of giggles, inside jokes and endless wine date nights for these cuties!

Erica + Taylor

Meeting these two was a breath of fresh air. Finding two people as playfully and joyfully in love as these two is an amazing thing. But knowing that they wanted to travel for their engagement session and are having their wedding next summer in their backyard? You know I’m all about it.

We met later than we were originally supposed to the morning of our session because it was supposed to rain originally. They showed up in the Subaru with a pup basically grinning from ear to ear. No joke, happiest dog ever. We stood next to the cliffs with wind so heavy it blew our hair into our eyes, and almost disoriented us. These two stood chest to chest, whispering things that the wind took away before I ever got to hear them. And I got to witness the silent love they share, despite the screaming wind and waves. When we got to the beach the shoes got left on shore, and these two got into the freezing water. Erica told me they did everything they would’ve if I hadn’t of been there, and she had no idea how big that made my heart smile.

A note to all my future clients: let go and love each other. Let me do the hard work. Trust me to capture the smiles that make you 100% you.

Lydia + John | Wild Iowa wedding

Spending the day with Lydia + John was nothing short of magical.

When we walked through the door to the venue we were greeted with smiles and an overall peaceful feeling in the building. Greenery was scattered all around the tables and walls. And if you’ve ever met me, you know I’m a sucker for literally any green plant.

We were able to work with a videography team that I’d never had the opportunity to work with, and have never felt such a sense of teamwork with any other vendor before. Working together, we were able to make sure we did everything possible to make this the wedding that was nothing short of what Lydia had spent months perfecting.

The first look with Lydia’s parents was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen, seriously. The look on her parents’ face was so joyful; and Lydia showed that dress off like it was nobody’s business. After the first look with her parents, we moved on to the first look with her freaking almost-husband! Watching couples see each other for the first time on the wedding day gives me goosebumps every time, and this day was no different. The heart eyes were so real with these two. I love letting my couples take 5-10 minutes after the first look to talk to each other or just hug. Watching them soak in the quiet before everyone shows up is so valuable.

As guests showed up right before sunset, they sat outside with the gorgeous golden sun lighting up the whole wedding party; and of course, John + Lydia. I always tell myself I won’t cry, but it’s so hard when they exchange vows with birds chirping in the background, and the wind is soft against your cheek. So yes...I cried, ok? But I know I’m not the only one that did, so I’m not even worried.

Give me all the sunset weddings, and all the couples who are madly in love.

Pizza, soda, the moon, someone to share it with.

Liz + Michaels Engagement

Spending the evening with these two was absolute magic.

I met them at a former bride and grooms wedding, and instantly I knew how much I would love them. The way they loved the people around them was heart warming, and their goofiness was infectious.

I showed up to their session to the cutest little pups running around, and two barefoot girls to greet me. I was instantly greeted by the family, and welcomed in like they'd known me for years. Elizabeth had set up a picnic area with blankets, water melon, lemonade, and lots of pillows in the back yard. Seriously my heart eyes were unreal!

Our common love for the well known tv show ‘The Office’ made me cry all the happy tears. Obviously one of the main characters name is Michael, so there was more than a handful of times where I’d say his name the way that Dwight would, after Jim did one thing or another to annoy him. So needless to say the time we spent laughing over those jokes definitely added up.

I’m so thankful to have found clients that I connect with in not only a professional way, but where we’re able to form a friendship. This has been my moto since day one, and I’ve always meant it.

Stay tuned for the wedding photos of these two next June!

Stay in Saturday session with Austin and Danae

People are always asking me, "Why choose an in-home session?"

There are so many reasons I love in-home sessions and why I think you should too. Here are the top 5 reasons why:

  1. There is no reason to spend hours planning outfits and stressing about what shoes will go with that shirt. Because, you get to wear your comfiest sweater, your fuzziest socks, and your favorite ripped jeans you've had since college. Which, allows you to chill out and lounge hard. What a relief! Can I get an amen?!

  2. You and your babe get to do what is natural for you. Whether that is you two on the couch listening to the latest 'Indies Hottest Tracks' on Spotify or cooking your favorite breakfast together, let's freaking do it. I'll photograph you two making pancakes and eggs for breakfast, while coffee is brewing and filling your apartment with that bitter and smooth smell of the new Costa Rican coffee you picked up at the farmers market last weekend.

  3. There will be no awkward or stiff posing. Just you and your babe doing what makes your love unique. So whether that is laying on your bed staring at the ceiling talking about your biggest dreams or playing a crazy game of tag while sliding across your hardwood in fuzzy socks, I am all about it.

  4. No stress about everything being perfect because this is the ultimate relaxed session. You don't have to have all your blankets folded perfectly, or hide your little corner of shoes that are beginning to add up. That is what these in-home sessions are all about; documenting your life and where you are at right now. What better way to capture this season of life than to be in your home, your safe place, in the arms of your babe?

  5. You will look back at these season of life being documented in five years and still get butterflies. You will get to see the way his eyes softened when you told him that new joke you made up last week, as lame as it was, he loved it (or at least pretended, which is what counts...right??). I want to document the little moments that make this current part of your life so special. It will be the sweetest because you'll know that, not only did you look the safest, but you also felt the safest when he wrapped you up in his arms from behind.

Alright, that is my top five reasons for choosing an in-home session this winter. Maybe you are still torn, maybe you don’t think your house is cute enough, or if it is worth the money. I will just tell you now, your house is yours and it is what makes you unique, embrace it. We all invest our money in so many different things in this life. I encourage you to invest it in something that will last for many life times. As a grandchild, I know there is nothing cooler than looking back at prints of my family from years ago, it puts life into perspective.

If you are still on the edge, hopefully these photos of Austin and Danae are all the convincing you still need.

This session couldn’t have been scheduled at a better time. It allowed everyone time to sleep in and wake up to enjoy those vibe worthy grey skies. On top of that, I arrived to amazing music playing, with my favorite Starbucks order waiting for me (16 oz iced coconut milk caramel macchiato). After the adventure I had finding their house it was the perfect gift.

The relaxed couple and I hung out drinking our coffee, allowing me to get to know them better and hear about their wedding planning adventures. This is by far one of the biggest reasons I love my job especially, when there is a real connection between my clients and I. It's my absolute favorite!

Danae was someone I knew right off the bat was my kind of lady, as our music type is the same; weird unheard of artists. With our favorite music blasting we got right to it, taking pictures and creating magic.

As we spent the morning laughing and capturing those in between moments, I realized something, just how much these two love each other. Watching Austin pick Danae up and twirl her around, and the way her eyes lit up when he kissed her neck. This is why I love my job, and love the couples I get to meet. There's no better feeling than knowing you've walked away from a session with new friends, and photos that genuinely captured the emotion of the day.

If you've putting off scheduling one of these sessions, please feel free to email us and see if it's something that would fit you!

In home cuddle session with Matt and Josie

Matt and Josie

Josie and Matt are one of those couples that reminds me how much I love capturing couples in love. The minute I walked in the door I was welcomed with smiles, and laughter. Watching these two interact and love on each other almost gave me butterflies (Tristan's the only one who gives me real ones). January 2nd I was able to document them cuddling, kissing, loving on each other, making some AMAZING cookies, listening to some vinyl and goofing around with each other.

My favorite part about in home sessions is how relaxed everyone is. It's just two people in love, wearing their favorite tee shirts, and cuddling with their babe.

Heres to a lifetime of smiles, nose kisses, and happiness to this couple.

I'm going to be real guys, so prepare yourself.

Relationships can be hard, thinking of another persons feelings 24/7 makes it inevitable to confront everything selfish and sour about you. But that is one of the biggest reasons I value photos like these so much. Because it reminds us, it reminds us of the happiness and good times we share. And when times gets tough, and arguments are had, it's the sweetest thing to look back at photos like these and let it melt your anger away. I admit I've done it several times with Tristan. When I feel like I'll "never forgive" him for 'saying this' or 'doing that', I've looked back at our wedding photos and honestly just cried. It reminded me how much I love his bright blue eyes, and the way he brushes the hair out of my eyes when I go to kiss him good morning. It reminded me of his smile when we stood at our alter and committed our lives to each other. The way it felt when we both said I do, my makeup absolutely melting down my face as I happy cried. So I guess if nothing else convinces you the value of photos with your honey, let this.

Carly and Corey's elopement

Carly and Corey

October 13th, 2017 was a special day for this couple, as they vowed their forevers to each other. I was One of just a handful of people they chose to be present during their elopement. The day started off dreary and drizzling rain, but that didn't discourage anyone from showing up. When I showed up to a roomful of people who clearly loved the Bride and Groom, and were there to show their love and support, I knew what a wonderful day this was going to be.  Once we got our small group of people rounded up we went location scouting for the ideal spot for Carly and Corey to say 'I  do'. We quickly found it overlooking a small pond, it was beautiful. I truly have no words for the vows they prepared for each other, but they were by far the sweetest and most heartfelt vows I've heard to this day. As the ceremony was finishing, and touching speeches were being made, the sun peeked through the clouds dancing across Carly's face. With tears streaming down her face, she hugged those closest to her while clutching Corey's hand. Truth be told, I cried more than I would be willing to tell anyone. But thats besides the point right?

To my sun and my stars, and the moon of my life I choose you. I would choose you in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundreds worlds, in any version of reality. We would find one another and I’d choose you, I will always choose you.
— Carly

This is why I do, what I do people. Getting to spend a day with Two people so in love that they can't keep their hands, or eyes off each other. I do this because I get to hike around with them while they won't stop giggling and laughing with each other. I get to watch true love unfold in front of me. And that's a dream job if I ever heard of one.
